What is WashU Premed APAMSA?
- Washington University in St. Louis Pre-Medical Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) is a chapter of the national APAMSA organization. This group is a supportive network for Asian Pacific American premedical students. This group promotes the awareness of the intersectionality between Asian Pacific American culture and medicine by researching relevant societal issues and publishing educational materials through online platforms. This group will integrate undergraduates with the St. Louis community through community service and reduce resource disparity by sourcing low-cost materials for its members.
Who can join?
WashU Premed APAMSA’s purpose is to support Asian-Pacific Islander (API) premedical students and advocate for the API community in healthcare. However, anyone can be a member if they have a passion that aligns with our mission.
Asian-Pacific Islander: a person with origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, South Asia, or the Pacific Islands
What programming does APAMSA do?
There are three main categories of programming:
- Support
- WashU Premed APAMSA aims to foster the premedical journey through advice, skill-building, and leadership. Healthcare is a cooperative field, meaning our events will emphasize communication, learning from others, and teaching others.
- Service
- Community service plays a huge role in integrating students with the larger community. Because both clinical and non-clinical services are essential, WashU Premed APAMSA will connect its members with all types of organizations in St. Louis and beyond.
- Social
- Social bonding is important in creating relationships between similarly oriented students and reducing stress. All kinds of health are important, so we will balance our programming with fun activities that you can enjoy.
How can I become an executive board member?
